WALK-INS

Walk-in cooler and freezer service

A walk-in is the heart of most commercial kitchens and grocery back rooms, and when it starts to warm up, inventory is at risk within hours. We repair, maintain and replace every part of the refrigeration system that keeps a walk-in cold: the outdoor or rooftop condensing unit, the evaporator and its fans inside the box, defrost timers and heaters, thermostats and controls, and the refrigerant lines in between.

We also handle the parts of the box that quietly cost you money: worn door gaskets, failed door heaters that let frost build up, sagging door closers and strip curtains that let warm air pour in every time the door opens.

What we fix most often:

  • Box won't hold temperature — dirty condenser coils, low refrigerant or a failing compressor.
  • Ice on the evaporator — defrost failures, bad fan motors or blocked airflow.
  • Frost around the door — torn gaskets, failed door heaters or doors that don't close all the way.
  • Water on the floor — a clogged drain line or a failed drain line heater, a common winter problem on freezers.

Installation and replacement: When a condensing unit or evaporator is beyond repair, or you're opening or expanding, we size and install new walk-in refrigeration equipment and plan the work around your hours to keep downtime short.

ICE MACHINES

Commercial ice machine repair, cleaning and installation

Restaurants, bars, hotels, convenience stores, churches and schools all depend on a steady supply of clean ice. We repair, clean and install commercial ice machines, from undercounter units to modular machines on storage bins.

Signs your ice machine needs service:

  • Making less ice than it used to — often scale buildup, a dirty condenser or a water supply problem.
  • Cloudy, soft or oddly shaped ice — usually scale, water quality or a harvest problem.
  • Leaking water — a cracked line, clogged drain or failed float or valve.
  • Slime, mold or odd smells — the machine needs a full cleaning and sanitizing, and it's a health-inspection risk if it's left alone.
  • Not making ice at all — electrical, refrigerant or control failures.

Cleaning and sanitizing: Ice is food, and the inside of an ice machine is a damp, dark place where scale and slime build up. Most manufacturers recommend professional cleaning and sanitizing at least twice a year, and more often in busy or hard-water locations. We descale the water system, sanitize the food-contact surfaces and bin, clean the condenser and check water filters so your machine makes clean ice efficiently.

Hard water in Southern Ohio: Many businesses here are on hard or well water, which builds scale quickly. A proper water filter and a regular cleaning schedule are the best ways to protect your machine and the quality of your ice.

Installation and replacement: We install new ice machines sized for your daily demand, with the right water, drain and electrical connections, and we can replace an aging machine on your schedule.

WHEN TO CALL

Signs your refrigeration needs service

Temperatures creeping up

If your box or case won’t hold temperature, or your logs show slow drift, call before product is lost.

Ice buildup on the evaporator

Heavy frost or ice on the coil usually means a defrost problem, low refrigerant or airflow issues.

Water on the floor

Leaking drain lines, failed heaters or a blocked condensate drain create slip hazards and sanitation problems.

The compressor runs constantly

A unit that never cycles off is working too hard and may be low on refrigerant or fighting a dirty condenser.

Doors that don’t seal

Torn gaskets and bent hinges let warm, moist air in, causing frost and higher energy bills.

Unusual noises

Rattling, grinding or buzzing from the condensing unit or evaporator fans.

WHAT WE USUALLY FIND

Common problems we fix

Dirty condenser coils

Kitchen grease and dust coat condenser coils fast. A dirty coil is one of the most common causes of warm boxes and high bills.

Defrost failures

Failed timers, heaters or controls let ice build up until the evaporator can’t move air.

Refrigerant leaks

We locate and repair leaks, then recharge the system properly.

Fan motor failures

Evaporator and condenser fan motors wear out and need replacement.

Thermostat and control problems

Faulty controls can leave a box running too warm or freezing product that should only be chilled.

Door and gasket issues

Worn gaskets, heater wire failures and misaligned doors.

MAINTENANCE

Preventive maintenance

Most refrigeration emergencies start as small problems that a maintenance visit would have caught. Regular service includes cleaning condenser coils, checking refrigerant levels, testing defrost systems, inspecting fan motors, checking door gaskets and heaters, clearing drains and verifying temperatures. For busy kitchens, coils may need cleaning more often than once a year. Ask us about a maintenance schedule built around your business.

PLAN AHEAD

Installation and replacement

When equipment is beyond repair, or you’re opening, expanding or remodeling, we install new walk-in condensing units, evaporators, reach-ins and ice machines. We’ll help you size equipment correctly for your volume, plan for electrical and drainage, and keep downtime to a minimum.

CLEAR PRICING

What affects the cost

Cost depends on the type and size of equipment, the part that failed, refrigerant work, access and how quickly service is needed. Maintenance costs depend on the number of units and how often they’re serviced. We give you the price before work begins.
