Homes without ductwork
Older homes with boilers, radiators or baseboard heat can get efficient cooling and heat-pump heating without tearing into walls and ceilings.
AFFORDABLE AIR HEATING & COOLING
Efficient heating and cooling, no ductwork required.
Ductless mini-splits solve comfort problems that central systems can’t: the hot bonus room, the addition the ducts never reached, the garage workshop, the century-old home with no ductwork at all. Affordable Air is a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Contractor Preferred, and we’ve installed ductless systems across Chillicothe and Southern Ohio since 2006.

WEIGHING YOUR OPTIONS
Older homes with boilers, radiators or baseboard heat can get efficient cooling and heat-pump heating without tearing into walls and ceilings.
Sunrooms, bonus rooms, finished basements and converted garages often sit too far from the main system, or would overload it.
A single indoor unit can fix a hot upstairs bedroom or a cold back room without replacing your whole system.
Mini-splits are far quieter and more efficient than window ACs, and they free up your windows.
A single-zone system keeps a workshop, detached garage or home office usable year-round.
Heat and cool only the rooms you’re using, with no ducts to maintain.
THE EQUIPMENT IS ONLY PART OF THE PICTURE
You bring your comfort goals. We bring the technical know-how to evaluate your home and explain the options.
Each indoor unit is sized for its own room, based on square footage, windows, insulation and how the space is used. One-size-fits-all heads leave rooms short-cycling or struggling.
A single-zone system pairs one indoor unit with one outdoor unit. Multi-zone systems connect several indoor units to one outdoor unit, each with its own controls. We’ll recommend the setup that fits your layout and budget.
Wall-mounted units are the most common, but ceiling cassettes, floor-mounted consoles and concealed ducted units are options for rooms where looks or placement matter.
We place indoor units for even airflow and outdoor units where they’ll stay clear of snow, roof runoff and debris, with clean, protected line-set routing outside.
Many Mitsubishi Electric systems provide strong heat at very low outdoor temperatures, which makes ductless a real heating option, not just air conditioning.
INSTALLATION QUALITY
Mini-splits are precision systems. Line-set length, refrigerant charge, vacuum and leak testing, condensate drainage and electrical work all affect how well the system performs and how long it lasts. As a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Contractor Preferred, our team meets Mitsubishi’s standards for training and installation quality. See Mitsubishi Electric.
We find the cause, explain it in plain language and give you the price before work begins. If a repair makes sense, we’ll say so—and if it doesn’t, we’ll tell you why.
WEIGHING YOUR OPTIONS
If your home has good ductwork and you want to condition the whole house evenly, central air or a ducted heat pump may be the better value. If you need to solve a specific room, condition an addition or add cooling to a home without ducts, ductless usually wins. Our guide to mini-splits vs. central air compares the two, and many homes use both.
Typical installed prices for ductless systems:
| System | Typical installed price |
|---|---|
| Single-head mini-split, standard 9,000–18,000 BTU wall mount | $3,500–$5,500 |
| Each additional indoor head, equipment and installation | $1,800–$3,000 per head |
Typical installed price ranges for Chillicothe-area homes as of October 2026. Your exact price depends on your home, system size and installation needs. Estimates on new systems are free, and financing is available for all credit types (0% APR for 72 months, with approved credit).
CLEAR SCOPE. INFORMED DECISIONS.
Cost depends on the number of zones, the size and style of each indoor unit, the outdoor unit’s capacity, efficiency and cold-climate ratings, line-set length, electrical work and wall or ceiling conditions. A single-zone system for one room costs far less than a whole-home multi-zone setup. Every estimate is free and in writing. See heat pump installation cost.
