What you can safely check first
- Remote and mode: Make sure the remote has fresh batteries and is set to the right mode (Cool, Heat or Auto), not Dry or Fan.
- Filters: Pop open the front panel and clean the washable filters if they’re dusty.
- Breaker: Check that the breaker or outdoor disconnect hasn’t tripped.
- Outdoor unit: Clear away snow, leaves and debris.
