Switching fuels
Moving from electric heat or an aging oil system to natural gas or propane can lower heating costs. We handle the furnace side and coordinate with your gas or propane supplier.
AFFORDABLE AIR HEATING & COOLING
Installed right the first time, by a local team that stands behind it.
A new furnace is only as good as its installation. Sizing, venting, gas piping, airflow and combustion setup all decide how well it heats your home and how long it lasts. Affordable Air has installed furnaces across Chillicothe and Southern Ohio since 2006, and we do every job like it’s in our own home.

WEIGHING YOUR OPTIONS
Moving from electric heat or an aging oil system to natural gas or propane can lower heating costs. We handle the furnace side and coordinate with your gas or propane supplier.
Homes without ductwork can move to forced-air heat when ductwork is practical, which also makes central air possible.
Pairing a new furnace with a heat pump lets your system use electricity in mild weather and gas or propane when it’s truly cold.
New living space sometimes needs a second furnace or a system upgrade to stay comfortable.
If your furnace has a cracked heat exchanger or has failed beyond repair, we’ll install a properly sized replacement. See furnace replacement for what to consider.
THE EQUIPMENT IS ONLY PART OF THE PICTURE
You bring your comfort goals. We bring the technical know-how to evaluate your home and explain the options.
We size the furnace for your home’s actual heat loss, accounting for insulation, windows, air leakage and square footage. Bigger isn’t better: an oversized furnace short-cycles and wears out early.
Standard furnaces vent through a metal flue or chimney, often needing a liner. High-efficiency condensing furnaces vent through PVC pipe and need a condensate drain. Venting done wrong is a safety problem, so we do it to code every time.
We make sure the gas line is sized for the new furnace, test every connection for leaks and confirm proper gas pressure.
We check static pressure and airflow so the blower isn’t fighting undersized or leaky ducts, and we tell you if duct changes would help.
We test burner operation, flue draft, safety switches and carbon monoxide levels before we call the job done.
We set up your thermostat for your system, including dual-fuel switchover if you have a heat pump.
We size your home, check venting, gas piping and ductwork, and explain the right furnace in plain language with the price in writing before any work begins. No guesswork, no pressure.
WEIGHING YOUR OPTIONS
If your current furnace is working and under about 15 years old, a repair or tune-up may be all you need, and we’ll tell you so. If you’re changing fuels, adding comfort to new space or replacing an unsafe system, a new installation is often the best long-term value. Not sure which option fits? Our guide to heat pump vs. furnace compares the choices for Southern Ohio homes.
Most furnace replacements in our area fall in these ranges, installed:
